Real Social Dynamics, usually shortened to RSD, is a dating-coaching company based in Los Angeles. It was founded by Owen Cook, who uses the name Tyler Durden, and Nick Kho, known as Papa. For years it was one of the biggest names in the pickup scene.

What it offers

RSD’s best-known product is the in-field bootcamp: a short course with some theory and then live practice, where coaches take students to bars, clubs, cafés and streets, show how they talk to women and give feedback while students try it themselves. The company also sells books, DVDs, audio programmes, online material and live seminars. Coaches have also covered style and lifestyle topics, not only meeting women.

Style

Its teaching centres on practice in the field, which includes daygame, cold approaches and handling approach anxiety. Tyler and Papa are also associated with the AMOG concept. Well-known coaches include Jeffy and Julien Blanc. The company grew out of the same early scene as the Mystery Method.

Why it matters

RSD helped move pickup from internet forums into a business with branded coaches, tours and large bootcamps, and the name is still widely searched today.

Criticism

The company has been criticised, like the wider pickup industry, for teaching manipulative tactics and treating women as targets. In 2014 the case of RSD coach Julien Blanc drew worldwide attention: after protests over videos and seminar material, Australia cancelled his visa and the UK refused him entry. See Julien Blanc will lose this battle, but he will win the war for a view from the time. If you consider any paid coaching, read independent reviews and compare options first.
